Merit Badge, Canadia and Yule at Wine Cellar

Details have been confirmed for the Canadia gig on the 27th August. Actually, the only thing we were waiting for was for Merit Badge to choose a band name. Turns out they chose the band name they had all along. Nice work, Merit Badge! You made the right decision!

Come on down to the Wine Cellar from 8pm on Wednesday 27th August to catch the tuneage.

There’s a Facebook event up for y’all to show some attendance, potential attendance, non-attendance, and make witticisms. Wit away!

Will It Live?: Day 100

One hundred days ago I started documenting the purple basil plant that was on my windowsill when I moved into my new digs, asking the quesion “will it live?” It turns out with a bit of watering, fresh air, and the occasional watered down drink of Coca-Cola, the answer is yes. The Plant has had its ups and downs, but as can be seen on this Flickr feed it’s very much alive.

And so, as we hit day one hundred, the Flickr feed will be discontinued. There are big things in The Plant’s future, as, like myself, it has grown mentally and spiritually as a person. Re-potting is on the horizon, and maybe even a change of view. I’ll still keep a record of its life in my library, but The Plant will no longer be a daily internet personality.

Big things are on the horizon for Canadia, too, including a conceptual photo shoot, a couple of music videos, and gig some time around the 27th (details to follow). All that and a series of songs base around Alain de Botton’s Essays in Love.

Also on the cards, for those who remember Gestalt Switch: the entire recorded output of this Dunedin band will soon be available online for free. Just looking for one more piece in the puzzle.

So stay cool, and, like The Plant, let’s all keep on living.

Will It Live? still live, happy. But the nights are lonely

If you’re missing having Will It Live? fed straight into your machine, then have no fear. Yeah, the manatees up in programming took it off the air here, but nature always finds a way. Or should I say, I only just realised this existed: the Will It Live? RSS Feed! Subscribe to it now!

That feed again, for those who love to copy and paste: http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photoset.gne?set=72157604721153037&nsid=95867157@N00&lang=en-us

Upper management decision

Sunday, May 4th, 2008 by Ashley Noel Hinton

There were some complaints from the neighbours about all the dying/living plant action on the site, so everyone’s favourite serial drama Will It Live? will no longer be simulcast here at Canadia Beats. But don’t you worry, a trusty little indie network called Flickr has come to the party. They’ve been working their magic in the background all this time, making us look good, but now it’s their turn to shine.

Translation: Will It Live? will no longer appear on the front page of the site, but it’s okay. For those who can’t get enough plant on windowsill action, tune into the Flickr feed every day at around 6pm (NZT) for a thrilling update.
