Lucky old Canadia got picked to open the Friday night show for Auckland’s new musical comedy, None Tree Hill. It’s a show about a band’s first gig going wrong wrong wrong.

From the leafy suburb of Devoport, ‘NTH’ as they are affectionately called by lead singer Jason Beaumont, are pumped and rehearsing around the clock Fridays and Saturdays from 5-6:30 at Devonport Anglican Church in preparation for their… debut show at legendary establishment, The Wine Cellar.

With up to four different chords in every song and lyrics that sound as if “a human heart grew arms and learnt to use a pen”, NoneTreeHill urge you to catch them while they are still so inexpensive and/or together.

Vibracamp compilation

We headed out into the Kaimai Ranges for New Year’s Eve and played a show in a youth camp hall for about 100 people who were cut off from the outside world and partying for four nights. It was pretty damn amazing.

There is now a CD compilation available bringing together some of the music from the artist that made Vibracamp so amazing. The CD includes Stress Cadet, The Wicks, Yule, Shy Lion, Let Me Go Drone, forEVERMAYNG, Gomez Bustamente, Graveyard Love and Scarlett Lashes. I admit that this is pretty late to count as news, but last November we recorded a track at Little Monster studio for the A Very Little Christmas compilation. Which got released. Ages ago. Like, in time for Christmas.

Oh hey it’s Friday, who feels like listening to a new song?

This jam is called ‘Jesus, Can I Ride Your Train?‘ and came about during the first month of my attempt to write 800 songs in seven years. It turns out sometimes a song about Jesus, or addressed to Jesus, just come to you.

Just FYI, I’m currently about 40 days behind where I need to be to achieve this goal.

If enough people do that, and then the judges like it, then we could be hitting the stage as the gates open. This is great, cause it means we’ll be done in time to catch Andrew WK.
