Thanks, Radiohead
Now, of course, Radiohead are a rather large and significant band, so when I release the debut Canadia EP in December on CD and free download (with an optional donation of whatever amount), the people who notice this (the people I tell) are going to accuse me of copying Radiohead. Fair enough.
But I’d like to pre-empt anything my friends and family accuse me of by saying I actually stole this idea from the Brian Jonestown Massacre way back when DiG! came out. Anton Newcombe had pretty much his entire back catalogue online for free download, with the option of making a PayPal donation. The music’s still up for download, though the donation link is gone, and now BJM have leaked their new album from their site.
So way back then I thought I’d do that. It’s taken me this long to make anything, though.
Not that beating Radiohead would’ve made any difference. I’m just saying is all.
To conclude: one listen into In Rainbows and yeah, I’m digging.
